The Story

Just like whiskey itself, the character of March Distilling took years to mature and still has quite a way to go. The idea of March Distilling sprouted in San Jose, California with the start of the Micro Brewing movement. Revealing the potential for experimentation of different techniques and ingredients from around the world to create something remarkable. As all whiskey starts as a beer or Mash. We believe a good beer will make an even better whiskey.

Soon after Bourbon, Rye, and American Single Malt whiskey took over. From 2017 to 2020 Armaan travelled the US, stopping at every distillery he could along the way. After hundreds of visits and tours it was clear that whiskey, it's culture, character, process, and complexity had him hooked.

Armaan and Sabrina packed and left to Switzerland. During the hight of the Covid Pandemic, with a lot of free time and not enough whiskey, the idea of March Distilling started to mature.

Thanks to the help of many, in 2022, March Distilling began to legally distil a High Rye whiskey, from grain to glass, based on the United States’ first President, George Washington’s own Rye mash bill.

Why March Distilling? March has been an important month for Armaan and Sabrina. March is when they moved from the Pacific ocean to the Swiss Alps. March or actually Merz is also Sabrina’s maiden name and it’s translation to March is a mix of cultures, which our whiskey embody. Made in the American style but Rectified in Confoederatio Helvetica.
